Projects

Jsure, a static Javascript analyzer.
Developed at Exalead and released under the LGPL, this Javascript analyzer, written in Ocaml, can be launched from the command line without the need for Rhino or a JVM. It helps Javascript developers by check syntax and various properties off-line. Stéphane Jaïs did the web interface.
Aurochs, a parser generator.
Also developed at Exalead and released under the LGPL, this parser generator uses the packrat (aka PEG) technique and has good expressive power. It produces reasonably fast parsers that can be used with Ocaml, Java or C (without needing the Ocaml runtime.)
ara, a search engine for Debian packages
Lost in the 30,000 packages automatically installable from your Debian system ? ara is a powerful search engine that allows you to do regular expression searches on package metadata. You can restrict subqueries to arbitrary fields, and combine them using boolean operators. The results are sorted by opoularity. ara is also available as stand-alone applications with command-line or graphical user interfaces.

This tools tends to send you mail when one of your sites goes down.
wipe, a secure deletion utility for UNIX
It is strongly recommended to sanitize hard disks and other magnetic media before, for instance, selling them. Indeed, simple deletion can be trivially undone by any unskilled individual. And, unless you physicall destroy your disk (say, by burning it), it is still possible for determined and resourceful individuals to recover your data for a price (say for 10 000 euros or more). The UNIX tool wipe applies standard secure deletion techniques in an attempt to obliterate all traces of your data.

Electronics
Were you blowing things up at age ten ? So was I. I was blowing up capacitors. Very fun. I also made an ``access control keypads'' using mechanical switches as logic gates. I got a little bit more serious meanwhile. I'm now mostly interested in electromagnetics.

Experiments with TEMPEST emanations
Information processing equipments radiate electromagnetic waves that can be used to reconstruct processed information. These experiments will help you to convince yourself, for a negligible cost, that these phenomena are indeed real and that they are not limited to cathod ray tubes.
